This course aims to provide training and knowledge in the safe and efficient operation of a rough terrain masted lift truck (Cat J1). The course is spent on developing skills and knowledge associated with this type of machine. Topics covered include theory - the need to train and statutory requirements; rated capacities; operating safety code and site safely rules; film 'The Correct, Approach and Site Safety'; multi choice theory test; Practical - introduction to the machine; control familiarisation; daily checks/refuelling/simple maintenance; steering and drive modes; steering procedures; load weight assessment; load handling; stacking and de-stacking procedures; vehicle loading/unloading; practical skills test. Maximum three students per course.
